May this year’s troubles end,
and a year of blessing begin.
תִּכְלֶה שָׁנָה וְקִלְלוֹתֶיהָ
תָּחֵל שָׁנָה וּבִרְכוֹתֶיהָ
(from the Rosh Hashanah Evening liturgy)
High Holy Days
Led by Rabbis Jan Uhrbach and Michael Boino, our High Holy Day services are unique spiritual, emotional, and intellectual journeys — from beginning to end.
Services are held in person at the Bay Street Theater in Sag Harbor, and always accessible on Zoom.
We welcome members and guests, though for security reasons everyone must register in advance.
Check out our FAQ page for detailed information about registering, suggested donations, seating, location, parking and everything else you need to know.
What to Expect
High Holiday services at Gesher are joyful, beautiful, relevant, transformative, and participatory.
You’ll be uplifted by gorgeous melodies, rich harmonies, and lots of congregational singing.
You’ll be inspired, challenged and elevated by teaching that speaks to your heart, your soul, and your mind, and speaks to your most pressing concerns.
You’ll meet a kind, embracing community, and be treated like family. Stay and have lunch with us on Rosh Hashanah, and break-fast together after Yom Kippur.
Our services are pretty unique, but if you’re used to Conservative or Orthodox services, you’ll find the liturgy and many of the melodies to be very familiar. If you’re used to a Reform or Reconstructionist Service — or if you’re not used to services at all — you’ll be amazed at how easy it is to find your way, feel at home, and really connect.
And at Gesher | The Bridge Shul, everyone is invited to fully participate, irrespective of gender identity, race, sexual orientation, Jewish education, family structure, financial means, or disability.
“There is something magical about The Bridge Shul.
It only takes visiting a few times to sense it.
Everyone is accepted for who they are and a refreshing sense of honesty pervades the air.
Rabbi Uhrbach’s teachings are consistently vibrant and rejuvenating, and Rabbi Boino’s voice is inspiring.
You feel alive at Bridge Shul.”

Our Prayerbook
We use the highly acclaimed Machzor Lev Shalem, the Conservative movement’s rich new High Holy Day prayerbook, which our own Rabbi Jan Uhrbach helped author. The prayerbook has the full Hebrew text found in most Conservative and Orthodox synagogues, but it also includes many classical prayers from non-Ashkenazic Jewish traditions — from Sephardic Jewry, the land of Israel, Italy, Yemen, and others. The translation is completely new, and everything chanted or read aloud is fully transliterated on the page. Each page also contains explanatory comments, inspirational readings, and a wealth of poetry.
We provide prayerbooks available for use at services. For home use, digital copies are available for rent from The Rabbinical Assembly for $3, or you can purchase the physical prayerbook here.
